CEC Newsletter
We are excited that our 2007-2008 School Year opened September 17th in our new space at the Tappan Reformed
Church's historic Manse Barn, located at 32 Old Tappan Road, across the street from the Tappan Post Office.  Our move
was the subject of an article in the
June 22, 2007 Journal News.

Family Fun Night
This year's Family Fun Night was held Friday, February 8th. Our staff, students, their families and friends enjoyed a
wonderful evening of games, entertainment, pizza, and sweet treats.  Thank you to Barry the Clown, who provided
wonderful entertainment (and lots of balloon animals!), and Broadway Pizza (in the Shop Rite Shopping Center in
Northvale), who supplied our delicious pizza.  Congratulations to our raffle winners!

Picture Day
Class and student photographs were a big success this year.  Our photographer, Seth Giles, was able to coax smiles
out of the youngest and toughest.  Thank you to Sunset Photos/Oakdale Images.

Fundraising
Our Yankee Candle fundraiser was a great success.  Over $4000 in merchandise was sold, giving CEC a profit of over
$1600.  The three families selling the most were the Espositos, the Nelsons and the Temples.  Thank you to everyone
for participating.  As a thanks, every student received prizes to enjoy.

Yearbook
The deadline for personal ads in our 2007-2008 Yearbook is fast approaching.  All personal ads must be submitted by
April 15th!  The yearbook, given to each family, is a wonderful, sentimental keepsake of your child's time at CEC.
Included are pictures of everyday happenings at the school plus pictures from our trip to DiPiero's Farm, our holiday
celebrations, and upcoming events such as Dad's Day.  Wouldn't you like to include a special message to your child
about his/her year at CEC?  Contact Pam Chiaino for more information or to see copies of previous Memory Books.

Parking and Drop-off/Pick-up
So far, our drop-off/pick-up and parking procedures have been working well.  Please remember to drive to the green boy
before letting your child out of the car.  As a reminder, if you need to enter the school for any reason, please
only park
perpendicular
to the sidewalk and walk your child to CEC’s entrance at the western end of the building.  Other parking
spots are designated for Church staff and CEC staff.  Following these guidelines is important because we share space
with the Church.

Volunteering
At the core of CEC’s philosophy is that we are a community preschool.  As such, we encourage parent participation in all
areas of our school environment.  If you or someone you know has any special talents you would like to share with the
Board of Directors or the staff, please send an email to
bod@cecpreschool.com.  Computer/internet expertise, financial
guidance, and gardening are just some of the areas you can help.  If you or a friend would like to share a special talent
with our students, we can schedule a day for you to visit with the children.  And since we are a small school,, we hope
you will help us spread the word about CEC by posting and distributing fliers about our programs in your neighborhood,
in places you frequent, and at your local retailers.  Please contact Diane Rossi in the CEC office for extra fliers.
