UPK January News

Brrr!! It’s cold outside… and this month in UPK it is a Winter Wonderland!

We will be learning all about winter weather and proper clothing to wear when it is cold! We will be doing many science activities involving ice and other freezing liquids. Do you know what happens to honey when it freezes? We soon will!

We will also learn about New Year resolutions, and the Chinese New Year. 2012 is the year of the dragon. We will learn about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.. By studying Dr. King, we will learn more about ourselves and build self-confidence. We will also celebrate famed composer Mozart’s birthday on January 27^th. Do you know what famous children’s song he composed long, long ago?

Our Letters of the Week this month are K, L, M, N, and O.

In math, we will continue practicing writing numerals, matching, sorting, and patterning.

Songs we are learning: Dance Like Snowflakes, I’m a Little Snowman, and The Chinese Dragon Song.

We also ask that you save a tissue box, or shoe box, for our Valentine Mail boxes. We will ask them to be sent in the last week in January.
